Copyrights And Legal Things As Developer

This is really very much underated topic because when I was starting I never really understood this very much at all even still I don't have much knowledge but I do know how to browse through web to find what I am looking for.

Copyrights is really an important thing and every developer must have to atleast have a knowledge about it.

So, let me tell you my story and how I knew about copyrights, I am like every developer you see I have a lot of ideas and apps and websites that I do want to build because you know I can build it

But before starting any project I have this habit of looking up whether is it legal or not, I have built this habit because of one of my first project that I ever built was illegal actually, it's not about drugs, don't take me wrong

It was about selling and buying other gamers accounts but it was about a specific game called freefire, but the issue was that until I have completed and deployed my website to live and it was working I didn't knew it was illegal to sell and buy these accounts.

So, I had to drop the project completely. But it was an amazing experience like that was the first time that I ever built something fully and deployed something to the real world

But still it hurts when I think of it because my parents and my family members always tells me that I have this habit of not being consistent or persistent on anything I do and it is going to lead me in the worst path someday

It started from this project, but now I have developed the habit to constantly write blog post and keep myself updated with this blog and I am really so grateful to this community and I am proud of myself about this as well.

So, yea let's get on to the idea that I was talking about it was basically that like a social media but a little different, So let's just keep it as an social media type of thing okay,

Consider someone posting an image from shutterstock that they do not have or nor do I have the license for, what would happen then

And who's responsible for the doing, is it myself the creator of the platform or the consumer of that platform.

That's where privacy policy and terms and conditions comes into play, whenever you have signed up for an app or a website it would have stated that

"By clicking on sign up button, you agree to our terms & conditions and to our privacy policy"

This is how we make ourselves, not responsible for the users activity in our platform. What should you know more about copyright and how you should formally write in the privacy policy will be cover in the next section.

You might have seen somewhere in a website like "DMCA Compliant", well it means like the site is complying to what ever the DMCA act is about, which is what developers should do,

Because something that is copyrighted is obviously their own hardwork, so piracy to that material is like really bad thing, you may not be involved in such a piracy but the users in your platform might be, I know you cant be held responsible for that

That's why you should be complying to DMCA, when you are complying to DMCA, you will have a form and an email address put down on a seperate page, if the owner of the image or anything that is copyrighted, saw something that is of their being put down on your platform they can issue a DMCA takedown notice by which you should delete that image from your site.

Conclusion

It is really simple make sure you are not dragged into those copyright problems, get a certificate from dmca website and add it to your privacy policy and terms and conditions

then you are safer to those copyright law suites and stuffs

Thank you have a nice day and meet you on a nicer topic and topics that helps fellow developers

Anyways, Happy Hacking Guys!
